🧨 Redesign of the Metaverse City
Problem and solution
Problem and solution
By the end of 2023, the city layout consisted of a large, square block with scattered buildings, which negatively impacted performance, wasted space, and lacked player immersion. In addition to these technical issues, the design suffered from unclear areas for challenges, obstructed views, and a disorganized structure, making the gameplay experience less engaging.
At the beginning of 2024, I started planning and documenting a redesign of the metaverse. I identified the key buildings and their associated routines, grouping them into distinct areas that eventually became Districts within the game: Residential, Financial, Health, Commercial, and Educational.

To help students identify the districts, each one was assigned a specific color, both on the map and in the interiors of its buildings. To prevent the city from becoming too large and difficult to navigate, I designed a public transport mechanic, allowing users to pay a small fee to be instantly transported to their desired district.
The redesigned city was well-received by students, bringing more life to the game, becoming modular for future updates, new districts and buildings, as well as special events and challenges.
🎇Seasonal Adventures🎇
The metaverse content was initially divided into four semesters, with weekly challenges focused on specific subjects. However, students began to lose interest due to the lack of new content.
In response, I designed the idea of thematic adventures with a distinct beginning and end, separate from the main metaverse. These adventures featured custom maps that transformed throughout the story and offered exclusive special rewards to players.
The adventure was well-received by both students and teachers, earning praise for its visual design. Many students continue to wear the outfits they received during the journey within the metaverse.

🌸 Origami Island 🌸
For the pilot of the seasonal adventures, I conceptualized and implemented the first adventure featuring a dynamic environment that evolves as players progress through the story and complete challenges. Initially, the main island starts as a barren landscape, and as challenges are completed, the environment begins to flourish.
This was also the first map to avoid using subterritories, allowing the entire adventure to take place on a single map divided into islands. A boat transportation system was introduced, making it the first map to feature distinct locations without loading screens.
